About the Role
Mounds Park Academy seeks a full-time Curriculum and Technology Integration Specialist to begin in the 2023-2024 school year. More specifically, we are seeking a versatile candidate who is passionate, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. The ideal candidate should have broad experience in academic technologies, innovative uses of technology applications for project-based/inquiry-driven learning, knowledge and agility in multiple platforms, experience working alongside teachers to create and develop curriculum, as well as a desire to work collaboratively with all members of the MPA community.
Members of our Academic Technology team work closely with one another across our PK-12 campus to deliver exceptional technology experiences grounded in design thinking and guided by a maker mindset. Our school is a 1:1 device school with K-2 utilizing iPads and Grades 3-12 using MacBook Air laptop computers. Our ideal candidate has an exceptional knowledge of innovative, creative, and effective pedagogies in technology, digital citizenship, curriculum and technology integration, and research-based practices in instructional integration. Additionally, a passion for working with Middle and Upper School students is ideal and one or more degrees in educational technology, computer science, middle or secondary education, or related fields is desirable.
Requirements
It is expected that a successful candidate would:
Inspire and collaborate in the development and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive integration of technology, design-thinking, and maker mindset across grade levels to promote excellence and support 21st-century transformational learning throughout the instructional program.
Assist teachers in using technology effectively for assessing student learning, differentiating instruction, and providing rigorous, innovative, and engaging learning experiences for all students.
Model and promote digital citizenship and help to design and implement a comprehensive, research-driven curriculum in technology informed by ISTE national standards. Deliver direct instruction to middle and upper school students (I.e., Computer Science).
Contribute to the development, communication, and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive use of technology to support a digital-age education for students in a progressive K-12 school.
Contribute to the planning, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of technology-engaged strategic plans at the school-wide and division levels.
Support and work collaboratively with faculty and students to engage in extracurricular activities (i.e., Robotics, Esports Club).
Work alongside teachers as collaborators and colleagues to manage the change and innovation process across all divisions with the academic technology team.
Serve as an instructional coach for teachers to model, design, and implement technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research-based, learner-centered instructional strategies and assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students.
Guide teachers in designing and implementing technology-enhanced learning experiences emphasizing creativity, higher-order thinking skills and processes, and mind-brain education (e.g., critical thinking, metacognition, and self-regulation).
Coach teachers in and model use of online and blended learning, digital content, and collaborative learning networks to support and extend student learning.
Participate in Academic Technology Department meetings and staff development activities as a faculty member of MPA
∙ Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom, including, but not limited to, attendance at after-school events, committee membership, and extracurricular activities
∙ Perform additional duties as needed (serve on school-wide committees, advise a student club, design curriculum, etc.)
In addition, an ideal candidate would possess the following personal qualities:
Experience maintaining and managing a variety of digital tools and resources for teacher and student use in technology-rich learning environments, and troubleshooting basic software, hardware, and connectivity problems common in digital learning environments.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
Demonstrated ability to innovate with research-based, inquiry-driven instruction in classroom.
Admirable leadership skills and a desire to serve.
Strong collaboration and organization skills.
Substantial understanding of the cognitive, social/emotional, and academic needs of the Middle and Upper School student
